posted 2/3/09 Mary Jo Grimshaw Blake Funeral services will be held for Mary Jo Grimshaw Blake on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. The service will be officiated by Rev. John Williamson from GracePointe Church of the Nazarene and assisted by Rev. H.L. Kendrick. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Mrs. Blake passed away on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 at Promise Hospital in Bossier City, La., at the age of 67. She was born on July 27, 1941 in Winnsboro, to Columbus and Wilma Myers Grimshaw. Mary's greatest joy and love in life was being with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joyce Parker. Mrs. Blake is survived by her husband of 48 years, Benson Blake; two sisters, Betty Milby of Monroe, Lou Howell of Bossier City; two brothers, John Grimshaw of Bossier City, and James Grimshaw and wife Lois of Bossier City. She is also survived by "her kids", Chris, Josh, Seth, Samantha, Hannah and Little Leah who called her "GAM", for Great Aunt Mary. L.E. England Sr. Funeral services for L.E. England Sr., 77, of Clayton were held Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at the Zion Baptist Church in Clayton with the Rev. T.A. Baker Jr. officiating. She was a native of Winnsboro, and a graduate of Moody Bible Institute. Mrs. McLemore spent her life in Christian Education at Whittier, Calif., and Temple Baptist Church Preschool in Winnsboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul McLemore. Garvin O. 'Jack' Miller Garvin O. "Jack" Miller, 93, was born August 19, 1915 to the union of Eppie & Lena Campbell Miller. He was called home January 26, 2009. Garvin was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Louise Westerburg Miller; an infant son, Garvin Miller, Jr., and 10 brothers and sisters. He was a long time resident of Winnsboro, however, lived the past three years at LaSalle Nursing Home in Jena. He was a veteran of WWII, an active member of VFW Post 3155, and a Deacon Emeritus of Temple Baptist Church in Winnsboro. Services were held at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. William Busby officiating. Burial was in the New Winnsboro Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home. He is survived by one daughter, Jackie and her husband, Charles, of Haughton; one son, Bill and his wife, Gayle, of Jena; one sister, Ninnie Tullos of Winnsboro; two granddaughters, Wendy Ashley and her husband, Anthony, of Olla; and Candy Miller of Jena; three grandsons, Chuck Pierce of Huntsville, Alabama; Paul Pierce and his wife, Caroline, of Haughton; and Brad Miller of Pollock; six great grandchildren, Whitney Keene, Taylor Ashley, Ashton and Brittany Miller, Bethany and Tim Pierce; and a host of nieces and nephews including two nephews, Joey Westerburg and Tommy Lupo whom he considered his sons. Sandra Stevens Sandra Stevens, born on Feb. 24, 1943 in Monroe, to Paul C. and Carrie Lee Coleman Peck, died on Jan. 31, 2009 in Gilbert. Her parents preceded her in death in 1985. She was a lifelong Methodist and a member of Gretna United Methodist Church in Gretna, La., and a graduate of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, where she met her husband of 43 years, Yates Stevens. They were married on Oct. 15, 1965 and he survives her along with their children, Amanda Lee Stevens Suter, Samantha Rachael Stevens, Matthew Laird Stevens and Joshua Cole Stevens; son-in-law Brian Suter; grandchildren: Samantha Lee Suter, Caroline Elise Suter, and Zachary Brian Suter; brother, Paul C. Peck Jr. and wife, Lisa; nieces, Allison Lee Peck and Katherine Lauren Peck; aunt Gwen Peck Cole and husband Edward; and numerous cousins. Also surviving her are her mother-in-law, Margie Laird Stevens; brother-in-law George Stevens and sister-in-law, Camille Stevens Forrest and family. Funeral services for Mrs. Stevens will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at Rose-Neath Marshal Street Chapel in Shreveport. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Ave. Rev. Steve Caraway will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday.
