FPPJ, assessor to upgrade computers

Two parish offices are expecting to see an improvement in office efficiency because of computer replacements in the near future.

The staff of Franklin Parish Tax Assessor Rod Elrod's office will be spending time in the Shreveport area undergoing training for new computer programs which will be installed toward the end of the month.

The Franklin Parish Police Jury office will install two new personal computers and a server, all with increased speed and capacity. The Jury computers were expected to be installed today. The replacement is timely, since one office computer failed recently.

The Assessor's office computers come with a price tag of near $40,000 and represent funds from a two-year budget cycle to lessen the burden of cost while the Jury's computers cost little more than $2,000.

Elrod said each half of the office staff would spend two days in training which would allow the office to remain open all this week.

The Jury upgrades include an accounting system for Treasurer Sam Wiggins.

In all, workers in two offices at the court house expecting to experience--at least--faster computer speed.
