Tate to lead Grand Parade
The Northeast Louisiana Livestock Show is honored to announce that 17-year-old Samantha Tate will be presenting the American flag in the Grand Parade in downtown Delhi. This is the 5th year for Samantha to carry the U.S. Flag and proudly lead the parade that begins with the opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. on Feb. 6, 2009.
Samantha is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Tate and the granddaughter of Oscar and Nancy Tate, all of Delhi. She is a junior at Delhi Charter School where she is class vice-president, an honor student and member of the Beta Club, 4-H, and student council.
Samantha has been honing her skills as a Classical Stock Seat rider for nearly six years while studying under Kiazziah Allen at the Ki Allen Riding School in Delhi, and Ron McLoughlin's Horse Handling School in Pearce, Ariz. She has been perfecting her dressage skill with Peggy Gaboury of Williston, Tenn. Samantha is quite a hand with horses and is always willing to help and share her knowledge with aspiring equestrian students.
To participate in the parade an entry must be completed and turned in to the parade director by Jan. 23, 2009. Pre-parade entertainment begins at 9:40 a.m. on Feb. 6, 2009 with vocalists William Michael Morgan and Jamie Lynn Robinson. The Grand Parade opening ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m. and will be conducted by Delhi's own Roy McIntyre.
The parade is now accepting entries for floats, bands and organized horse riding groups. For more information call Delhi City Hall at (318) 878-3792 or Kiazziah Allen at (318) 878-1971. Entry forms are available at Delhi City Hall. |
