Martin-Parks united
A candlelight ceremony at the Apostolic Tabernacle in Winnsboro was the setting for the marriage of Laura Lynn Martin to Justin Cody Parks on the evening of October 18, 2008. Pastors Michael Couch and John Parks Sr. officiated the ceremony. Brenda Rockhold served as wedding director.
The bride is the daughter of Sondra Martin and Kenneth Martin, both of Winnsboro. The groom is the son of Pastor and Mrs. John Parks Sr., of Vicksburg, Miss.
The sanctuary of the church featured columns topped with ferns and fresh floral arrangements of lilies and gladiolas. The pews of the church were fashioned with coach-style candle lamps adorned with feathers. Standing candelabras illuminated the alter area.
Given in marriage by her mother, the bride wore a trumpet-style gown of white satin. The empire waist featured an elegant corset back extending into the chapel-length train. She wore a matching bolero jacket and a fingertip veil trimmed with beaded lace. The bridal bouquet was an arrangement of white lilies and delicate feathers.
As the bride walked down the aisle, the groom sang, "If you Could See What I See." Other musical selections for the ceremony included, "Up Where We Belong," performed by Derrick and Keisha Chambless; and "From This Moment," performed by the bride and groom.
Candle-lighters for the ceremony were Samuel Givens of Winnsboro and Patrick Jackson of Vicksburg.
Heather Ponce of Winnsboro served the bride as her matron of honor. She wore a princess-style gown of peach satin with a matching bolero jacket and carried a delicate feather bouquet.
Bridesmaids were Jennifer K. Batterton of Winnsboro, Megan Ogle and Renea Ogle of Yazoo, Miss., Rose Parks of Vicksburg, and Alena Touchet and Brittney Hibbs of Winnsboro. Each attendant wore a princess-style gown of peach satin like that of the matron of honor and carried a feather bouquet.
Serving as flower girls were, Ashley Dycus of West Monroe, Leslie Rockhold of Winnsboro, Elizabeth Parks of Vicksburg and Jacquelin Ogle of Yazoo.
Millard Parks of Vicksburg served the groom as his best man. Groomsmen were Chris Ponce of Winnsboro, John Parks Jr., Toby Parks, Glenn Parks, Keith Edwards and Andrew Edwards, all of Vicksburg. Ushers were Jerell Dycus of Irving, Texas, Gerald Ogle of Yazoo, Chad Hatton of Winnsboro, Mark Rowten of West Monroe, Scott Batterton of Winnsboro and Michael Paul Sanderford of Vicksburg. Nathan Parks of Vicksburg served as bell-ringer.
Anna Martin of Winnsboro and Trent Parks of Vicksburg attended the wedding party as miniature bride and groom.
Following the ceremony, a garden reception was held at the home of Cathy and Sam Delacerda. Illuminated by dramatic candlelight, an elegant three-tiered white confection decorated with peach roses served as the centerpiece. An arrangement of smaller tiered cakes and a lighted fountain accented the bride's table. The groom's table held a feather arrangement centerpiece and a one-layer tuxedo cake served with hot-spiced cider and coffee. Fresh floral arrangements of roses, lilies and gladiolas decorated the reception area.
Hostesses for the reception were Lindsey Rockhold and Natalie Jones. Servers for the guests' tables were Jennifer Batterton, Brianna Parks, Mariann Mason, Elaine Wiley, Angel Edwards, Jaudon Mixon, Mitzi Hibbs, Malisha Hilburn, Marie Stevenson and Meghan Vallery. Wanda Vallery served the bride and groom.
Following the reception, the newlyweds departed for a honeymoon in San Antonio, Texas.
