Local nurse practitioner releases children's book

Franklin Parish resident Cindy Middleton Gray has recently released a children's book, "Maddie Goes to the Nurse Practitioner," published by Author House.

Gray has been a certified family nurse practitioner since 2000 and has been described as having a "God-given gift" when dealing with children, especially when they are ill. The book tells the story of an energetic 3-year-old girly-girl named Maddie, who is surrounded by a tight-knit southern family of brothers and male cousins. In the book, Maddie recounts one of her adventures that resulted in a minor injury and a trip to the nurse practitioner. After learning many new things, Maddie and her Mommy are soon off for a tasty treat because Maddie was such a good patient.

She credits her mother with knowing her well enough to steer her into the field of nursing and hopes the book will entertain children and their parents while educating them on the medical office and procedures.

Gray resides in Franklin Parish with her husband and five sons.

The book is available at local retailers, online at www.authorhouse.com and the book order hotline at (888) 280-7715.
