Mary Brothers
Funeral services for Mary Brothers, 85, of Winnsboro were held Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 at Richardson Funeral Home Chapel in Winnsboro.
Burial followed at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Winnsboro under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Survivors include her sons: Donny Brothers, Houston, Texas; Henry Brothers, Little Rock, Ark.; Bobby Pleasant, Bloomington, IL; daughters: Willie Mae Mitchell, Monroe; Nancy Bennett, Winnsboro; Donna Pleasant, Baton Rouge; sister, Rebecca McClain, Vallejo, Calif.; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Nickie Brother, Michael Harrell Sr., Byron Newton, Johnathan Hall, and Gregory Washington.

Charles E. Dunham
Funeral service for Charles E. Dunham, 82, of Crowville were held Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at Lamar Baptist Church near Crowville with Rev. Marion Collier, Rev. Jason Lupo, and Terry Ganey officiating. Interment followed in Crowville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro.
He was born to Jesse Vick and Minnie Elizabeth Mathis Dunham on Jan. 11, 1926 in Crowville and passed from this life Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 in St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
Mr. Dunham, a charter member and deacon of Lamar Baptist Church, married Audrey Laverne Stroud on Dec. 14, 1947 in Crowville. He worked for 14 years as a mechanic at Macon Ridge Tractor Company and later worked as a service repairman for Sears. Known throughout his community for his generosity and wonderful sense of humor, Mr. Dunham was always helping others by providing fresh vegetables from his garden or repairing anything that his neighbors needed help with. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Audrey Dunham of Crowville; six children Laverne Clark Huff of Winnsboro, Norma J. Odom of Jonesville, Charles Ray Dunham of Delhi, Kenney E. Dunham of Crowville, Patricia Dunham McDaniel of Crowville and David L. Dunham of Monroe; one sister Mary Ella Pritchett of Bastrop; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and many dear friends.
Pallbearers were Wesley David Dunham, William Charles Dunham, Todd Harp, Garrett McDaniel, Rodney McDaniel, James Odom, Jeffery Odom, Jason Schaumann, and Eric Smith.

Lucius Myles Jr.
Funeral services for Lucius Myles Jr., 66, of Baton Rouge, formerly of Winnsboro were held Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008 at Truelight Baptist Church in Winnsboro. Burial followed at Morning Star Cemetery in Fort Necessity, under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Mr. Myles died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at Baton Rouge General Hospital.
Survivors include is sons: Paul Myles and Allen Myles, both of Winnsboro; Reginald Thomas, Baton Rouge; daughters: Glenda Myles, Winnsboro; Carla Clemons and Denna Collins, both of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Clarence Myles, Winnsboro; sisters: Claretha Washington, Liddieville; Jewel Gipson, Baton Rouge; Jolene Myles, Blithe, Calif.; Arzola Pleasant, Denton, Texas; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ruth Reeves Smith
Funeral services for Ruth Reeves Smith, 83, of Winnsboro, will be held at Magnolia Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Ron Ferrington, Rev. Frances Guy, and Rev. Jonathan Finley officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mrs. Smith was born March 31, 1925 in Winnsboro, and passed away Monday, December 22, 2008 at her residence in Winnsboro. She was a homemaker and a member of the Magnolia Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Smith; father, Lawrence Reeves; mother, Armie (Temple) Reeves; two brothers: James Reeves and Huey Reeves; and sister, Alma Mercer.
Survivors include three daughters: Alice Crosser and husband Freddie of Monroe; Lillian Shepherd and husband Jerry of West Monroe; and Brenda Smith of Winnsboro; two sisters: Valorie Gordy of Winnsboro, and Myrtis Clark of Sheveport; five grandchildren: Bill Crosser, Emily Futch, Leanna Jones, Angela Herrington, and Gerald Shepherd; seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be David Browning, Sonny Ramsey, Roger Ulmer, James Shirley, Doug Clark, and Mike Emfinger.
The family will receive friends at Magnolia Baptist Church from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2008.

Verbie Robinson Wright
Funeral services for Verbie Robinson Wright, 81, of Winnsboro were held Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008 in the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Interment followed in Harris Cemetery with Rev. Jason Foster officiating.
She was born to Mark Colen and Lula Mae McNease Robinson on Aug. 10, 1927 in Crowville and passed from this life Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro.
Mrs. Wright was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Winnsboro and retired from St. Francis Medical Center, where she worked in the cafeteria for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers Dewey and Johnnie Robinson.
She is survived by her sister Vera Howie and husband Eddie of Start; sister-in-law Jeanette Robinson of Swampers; eight nieces and five nephews.
Pallbearers will be deacons of Temple Baptist Church.

Willie E. Smedley
Funeral services for Willie E. Smedley, 84, of Ferriday were held at Young's Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008 with Bro. Richard Cullum officiating.
Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez, Miss., under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.
Mrs. Smedley was born June 25, 1924 in Hope, Ark., and passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008 at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday. He was a resident of Ferriday, retired from International Paper Co. after 30 years of service, and a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Smedley, mother, Mamie Smedley; brothers: Eugene Smedley and Raymond Smedley; and a grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Brooks Smedley, Ferriday; daughters: Dorothy Gillespie, Jigger; Brenda Tarver, Ferriday; Barbara Tucker, Ferriday; son, William Smedley, Ferriday; step-daughters: June Hines, Paris, Texas; Jeannie Carroll, China; step-son, Edwin Carroll, Vidalia; sisters: Annie Ruth Greenlee and Martha Greenlee, both of Dallas, Texas; Patricia Harris, Vidalia;14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mark Gillespie, Eddie Tarver, Joseph Tarver, Jake Smedley, Joel Smedley, Chris Carroll and Michael Ennis.
Honorary pallbearers were David Gillespie, John Tarver, Justin Tarver and Billy Passona.

Anthony Spencer
Funeral services for Anthony Spencer, 58, of Newellton were held Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 at Newellton Chapel Baptist Church. Burial followed at Wyoming Cemetery in Newellton under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Mr. Spencer died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at his home.
Survivors include brothers: James Spencer, Alton, IL.; Micheal and Larry Thomas, Las Vegas, Nev.; William Thomas, Tallulah; Joseph Bank Jr., Los Angeles, Calif.; sisters: Gertrude Thomas, Newellton; Sarah Thomas, Theresa Weaver and Gloria Anderson, all of Tallulah; Ann Spencer, Vicksburg, Miss.; Irene Thomas, Redwood, Miss.;Ruby Hamilton, Lake Providence; Mary and Rebecca Thomas, both of Las Vegas, Nev.
Pallbearers were Donald Clark, Timothy Thomas, Eugene Smith, Franklin Pleasant, Willie Smith and Bobby Smith.
