Posted 12/16/08 Donald 'Donnie' Bellon A memorial service for Donald "Donnie" Bellon, 55, of Winnsboro, will be Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 at 12 noon in Gill Chapel, with the Rev. Leon Ward officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service. Mr. Bellon was born May 10, 1954 in Lafayette, La., to Hazel Bellon and passed from this life on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 with Sandra by his side at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He worked for over thirty years as an iron worker where he got his beginning with Bud Arnold's Construction of Gilbert. He is preceded in death by his mother. Mr. Bellon is survived by his wife: Sandra of Winnsboro; two daughters: Rebekah Bellon and Nicole Bellon both of Winnsboro; son: Eric Wall of Chase; stepchildren: Crystal Deakyne of Clearwater, Fla.; and Shan Lachney of Winnsboro; two sisters: Linda Guillory of Elton, La. and Vel Champgene; one brother: Ronald Bellon of Lake Charles, La.; and eleven grandchildren; and a host of niece, nephews and friends.

James Lighten Jr. Funeral services for James Lighten Jr., 50, of Irvington, N.J., were held Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at True Gospel Baptist Church in Winnsboro. Burial followed at Gethesame Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Mr. Lighten died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 at the V.A. Hospital in Lyons, N.J. He is survived by his wife, Janeth J. Motley Lighten, South Toms River, N.J.; sons: Jamil Lighten, Toms River, N.J.; Rajan J. Zeke Moore Funeral services for Zeke Moore, 90, of Winnsboro were held Saturday, Dec. 11, 2008 at Cuba Baptist Church in Gilbert. Burial followed in the church cemetery under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Mr. Moore died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008 at Franklin Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Pearl Moore, Winnsboro; sons: Robert Adams and Pete Moore, both of Lakeland, Fla.; Edward, Isaac and C.L. Moore, all of Winnsboro; daughters: Minnie Price, Belleville, IL; Maggie and Shirley Moore, both of Winnsboro; Mattie Skipper and Betty Goldwine, both of Lakeland, Fla.; Rosie Maine, Arlington, Texas; Martha Moore, Jonesville; 48 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Ethel Juanita Page Funeral services for Ethel Juanita Page, 80, of Ore City, Texas will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday), Dec. 17, 2008 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with the Rev. Carlton Watkins officiating. Interment will follow at Twin Cities Memorial Garden Cemetery. Mrs. Page was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Dangerfield, Texas approximately 15 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Robert and Bessie Houston; brothers, Claudie Houston, Frank Houston, and Allen Houston; and sister, Allie V. Crane. Edward Leon Davis Funeral services for Edward Leon Davis, 84, of Winnsboro, were held at The Christian Fellowship Church on Friday, December 12, 2008 with Rev. George Ferrington and Rev. Ron Ferrington officiating. Interment followed at Oakley Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mr. Davis was born June 14, 1924 to the union of Colon Leon and Dora Ezell Davis in Meadville, Miss. He departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro. He was a WWII veteran of the 4th Marine Division, and served as a Medical Corpman in the Marshall Islands, Guadel Canal, and Iwo Jima. He was a retired truck driver for the La. Department of Transportation and Development, and also a security guard at the Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 48 years, Sue (Thornhill) Davis; his sister, Leona Siddon; his daughter, Penny Sue Davis; and great-granddaughter, Anna Michael Gwin. Survivors include daughter, Edwina Ragsdale and husband John of Nashville, Tenn.; son, William Edward Davis and wife Betty of Austin, Texas; daughter, Mary Ann Davis; daughter, Nancy Ray and husband Billy Joe of Baton Rouge; daughter, Sandy Hutto and husband Jerry of Winnsboro; son, Bobby Davis and wife Pam of Winnsboro; step son, Jena Tarver; step daughter, Bobbie Lachney; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. Jean Pylant Gwin Funeral services for Jean Pylant Gwin, 72, of Winnsboro were held Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 at Temple Baptist Church in Winnsboro, with Rev. Jason Foster and Rev. Paul Jones officiating. Burial followed at Myrtle Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mrs. Gwin was born to the union of her parents: Ozro and Alma Wright Pylant on Aug. 8, 1936 in Crowville, and went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 at her residence in Winnsboro. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and loved being a part of Mrs. Ruth Cuny's Sunday School Class. She spent many hours doing volunteer work with the Franklin Medical Center "Pink Ladies" where she served as treasurer. She is preceded in death by her husband: John D. "Billy" Gwin; father: Ozro Pylant; brother and sister-in-law: Gerald and Betty Jo Pylant; and a great granddaughter: Anna Michael Gwin. Mrs. Gwin is survived by her mother: Alma Pylant, of Crowville; three daughters: Sherri DuBois and husband Andre, of Inverness, Miss.; Donna Hitt and fiance` Russell Flowers of Winnsboro; and Robin Armstrong and husband Jeffery of Gilbert; two sons: Mike Gwin and wife Libby of Winnsboro; and Chris Gwin and wife Kal of D`estrahan; nine grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; special friends: J. Mr. Rollins was born Nov. 3, 1914 in Bogue Chitto, Miss., and passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 at Plantation Manor Nursing Home in Winnsboro. He was a resident of Winnsboro and a retired truck driver. He was preceded in death by his father, William E. Rollins; mother, Hattie Dell (Rawls) Rollins; son, W. L. "Buddy" Rollins; three brothers and one sister.
