Patriots make run in Delhi Tourney

Franklin Parish High School made a run at the tournament title against its host Delhi last Friday but came up two points short of a three-game sweep and the championship trophy.

Host Delhi edged Franklin Parish 66-65 in the title game last Friday night.
Franklin got to the title game with wins over Rayville, 91-74 and Madison, 75-73.

In girls play, Franklin Parish was a opening-round casualty, 83-74 at the hands of Rayville, although four Lady Patriots hit double figures.

While LaTonya Whitley, who scored 26 points for FPHS, was the single Winnsboro player named to the all-tournament team, Franklin Parish placed four players on the boys all-tourney team.

The are: J.C. Winn, 33 points vs. Rayville and 17 points against Delhi; Brandon Sims, 25 points in the title game, 24 against Madison and 22 against Rayville; Kenderrick Powell, senior guard and Roosevelt Walker, junior guard.

Jasmine Jones scored 16, Kale Scott 14 and Daffnie Dykes 11 in the girls' loss.

Walker scored 16 points against Rayville and 20 against Madison as the boys upped their record to 10-3 and the girls record fell to 6-5.
