FA girls stand 3-3 in season

Twin victories last week carries the Franklin Academy varsity girls team into a match Thursday at Rebul with an even 3-3 record.

Mallory Welch scored 14 points to lead the Academy to a 34-19 win over River Oaks in the River Oaks Tournament in Monroe Wednesday Dec. 3 after sinking 17 points the night before as Franklin Academy beat the River Oaks hosts, 42-23 in a regular season game.

Welch has been steady in scoring for the senior girls this season, sinking 24 points in a lost to Red River Academy and notching 26 points in a 57-46 win over Riverfield.

The senior girls have also had solid support in scoring with Hanna Southern netting 27 and Emily Colllins contributing 23 points over the last four games.

In recent junior varsity girls activity, the Fanklin Academy team has split two overtime games, winning over Riverfield, 29-26 and losing to River Oaks, 21-20.

Erwin Ward had 18 points and Erin Ward 12 points in the two games.
