The Franklin Parish Boosters say they have been playing bingo locally for about a year with the athletic programs at Franklin Parish High School as the major winner.

In a news release, the Boosters organization said it has been able to purchase equipment, enhance facilities and send students on trips because of funds from bingo games.

The Boosters is a beneficiary of charity bingo at Winnsboro Bingo, according to Jennifer Harper, who operates the gaming facility.

"Our goal has been to raise enough money to make the Athletic Department at FPHS self-sufficient," says the Boosters' news release last week.

The boosters statement continues: "We have been able to purchase practice equipment, an equipment travel trailer, paint and an air conditioner for the field house, a new scoreboard for the football field, and a new zero turn mower for the athletic fields.

"We have also been able to send the cheerleaders and dance team to champ. We sent the junior football team to summer camp. The football team was also treated to a camping trip over the summer."

Boosters also indicated they hope to build new bleachers and a dugout for the baseball field.

Video of students at the football camps can be seen at www.fppatriots.com or www.youtube.com/FPHSFootball.
