Story Archives: Wisner fist fight turns to guns

Wisner fist fight turns to guns
by Michael DeVault - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
A fist fight over words exchanged about a man's girlfriend has two Wisner men behind bars and a third in LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, after the conflict escalated into a shooting.

The verbal argument became physical and, before long, the fight spilled into the street, according to Sgt. Don Kincaid, of the Wisner Police Department.

"Eventually, it escalated from fighting with fists to one of them getting a gun," Kincaid said.

Officers from the Wisner Police Dept. and the Franklin Sheriff's Office responded to the Nov. 6 shooting on Hickory Circle, where they found a single victim with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, where he is still being treated for his injuries.

Police arrested two suspects at the scene.

Darnell Doyle, age 17, was booked into the Franklin Correctional Center on charges of attempted 2nd Degree Murder.

A Franklin Parish Sheriff's report also listed Tyrell Bingham, 15, of 156 Hickory Circle, Wisner as being held on charges of murder, second attempt.

Kincaid said the argument apparently began when one of the men made a comment about another's girlfriend.

If convicted, Doyle faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
