Cougars end year with loss

Franklin Academy finished 2-8 on the season after falling to unbeaten Porters Chapel Academy of Vicksburg 38-8 Friday in Winnsboro.

"We started an eighth-grader at quarterback and a number of ninth-graders," said Franklin coach Keith Tincknell. "We hit the weight room today (Tuesday) and we're already getting ready for next season."

PCA (11-0) raced out to a 21-0 first quarter lead, thanks to a 2-yard run by senior Michael Wilson and a pair of TD's by quarterback Clayton Holmes.

Holmes hit Jeremy Roach for a 75-yard scoring strike and rushed for a 27-yard TD.

Holmes completed 4-of-5 passes for 160 yards. Wilson's short touchdown run was the first of his career.

A pair of Josh Perry 3-yard touchdown runs put the Eagles ahead 35-0 at the half as the starters sat out the second half.

Jason Greer, who hit all five of his PAT attempts, nailed a 41-yard field goal to round out the scoring for Porters Chapel, which will likely play Tallulah Academy at home on Friday in the first round of the MPSA Class A playoffs.
