Franklin Parish teachers honored
Several teachers were honored during the regular meeting of the Franklin Parish School Board on Sept. 5, 2008. Teachers of the Year for each school and Teachers of the Year for the parish were presented with a plaque of recognition by asst. supt. Wiley McClary.
The 2009 Elementary Teacher of the Year for Baskin School is Cathy Young; Middle School Teacher of the Year for Crowville School is Ruth Washington; Elementary Teacher of the Year for Winnsboro Elementary School is Dixie Cureington; Elementary Teacher of the Year for Gilbert Junior High is Becky Jones; and Middle School Teacher of the Year for Gilbert Junior High is Julie Carrington.
Three of the teachers were named Teacher of the Year and will represent Franklin Parish in the state competition. Franklin Parish Elementary Teacher of the Year is Donna Pace Easterling of Crowville School; FP Middle School Teacher of the Year is Patty Donnell Holloway from Baskin School; and FP High School Teacher of the Year is Rachel Gray from Franklin Parish High School. The Franklin Parish Teachers of the Year were also presented with an additional plaque and monetary awards by Kelly Martin of Martin Brothers.
Easterling, Holloway and Gray will travel to Baton Rouge on July 18, 2009, to compete for the Louisiana Teacher of the Year honors at the Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Celebration. |
