Paul Perry officiating under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mr. Shivers was born to the union of his parents Lawrence and Constance Shivers on Dec. 19, 1935 and passed from this life on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008 at his residence in Jonesville. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He is preceded in death by his parents; son: Glenn David and daughter: Melissa. He is survived by his companion and care giver: Marie Wade of Jonesville; daughter: Janice "Sissy" Holloway of Sicily Island; brother: Glynn Shivers and wife Jan of Jonesville; sister: Dorothy Ulmer of Monroe; grandson: John Duncan and wife Anna of Sicily Island; great granddaughter: Laci Duncan; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Will James 'Jimmy' Juneau Will James "Jimmy" Juneau of Wisner was born Nov. 23, 1940 and passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 at Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. He was preceded in death his father, B.J. Juneau; mother, Annie Dupuy; sister, Ethel Lablanc; and daughter, Karen Ferrier. He was survived by his wife, Madelyn Sizemore; sisters, Sadie Purdy, Audrey Prospersi, Irene Eskew, and Stella Juneau; brother, Curtley Hayes; sons: Benjamin James "Zeke" Juneau and Robert Sizemore; daughters: Wanda Gupton, Pam Gossett, and Glenda Vanlangendonck; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Shirlene Martin Funeral services for Shirlene Martin, 51, of Wisner, were held at South Central Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008 with Rev. T.J. Boyd and Rev. Ron Ferrington officiating. Ms. Martin was born Sept. 14, 1957 in Delhi, and passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 at Richardson Medical Center in Rayville. She was a resident of Wisner, a beautician, and a member of the South Central Baptist Church, Wisner. She was preceded in death by her daughters: Megan Rayborn and Janell King. Survivors include her mother, Louella (Smith) Mullican; father, Howard Mullican; three sisters: Earline Williams and husband Dennis of Baskin; Sandy Pesina of Columbia; and Angie Dunn of Tallulah; step sister, Penny Husser of Pensacola, Fla.; one granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Wanda Jean Lee Hamilton Funeral services for Wanda Jean Lee Hamilton, 53, of Florence, Miss., were held Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008 at the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro, with Brother Clyde Walker officiating. Mrs. Hamilton was born July 9, 1955 to Homer and Lucille McDaniel Lee in Beaumont, Texas, and she passed from this life on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 at Glenwood Medical Center in West Monroe. She loved working puzzlebooks and crocheting. She loved her grandchildren very much. She is preceded in death by her father; one sister: Emma Mae smith; one brother: David Lee. She was a resident of Winnsboro, a cotton class grader, sitter for children, and a member of the Mormon Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Gail Stephen, mother, Myrtle Lee (Johnson) Stephens; two brothers: Royal Everett Stephens and Joe Gail Stephens Jr. Survivors include her daughters: Nona Mock and husband Harry E. Richard C. 'Dick' Daggett Richard C. "Dick" Daggett, 87, of Wildsville, La., who was born on Jan. 12, 1921 in Medford, Mass. and died on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Jonesville, La. at 10 .m. with Rev. Dave Carlton, Rev. Jimmie Pyles and Tom Barrett officiating and music being performed by organist Rena Pitts and soloist Buzz Scott. Interment will be at Evangeline Cemetery in Wildsville. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Jonesville, where he has been a member and served for many years, from 5 to 8 p.m. Capt. Richard C. Daggett served in the China-Burma-India Theatre during World War II as a fighter pilot. He was then assigned to the Chinese-American Composite Wing. Mr. Daggett was a part of the famous Flying Tigers and his objective was to interrupt supply lines by strafing and bombing trains and boats along the rivers. During a routine strafing run, he encountered enemy fire and was forced to eject from his plane. He found himself wounded and far behind enemy lines. After 30 days of evading enemy forces, he was back in Allied Occupied China. Capt. Daggett received many awards including the Purple Heart and Air Medal. He married Mrs. Eula Routh Wurster Daggett during the war. After the war he and his family moved to Newton, Mass., where he owned and operated Daggett Chocolate Company. He later returned his loving wife to her home of Jonesville, La., where he worked as a farmer until he retired. Mr. Daggett was preceded in death by his wife Eula Routh Daggett and his parents Mildred and Fred L. Daggett. He is survived by three children: Candy Ford of Wildsville, La.; Linda Barrett and husband Tom of Vienna, Va.; and Rod Daggett and wife Penny of Wildsville. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Ella Ruth Young Spinks, John Davis Young Jr., Sarah Louise Young Spinks, Lindsay Elizabeth Barrett, Stephanie Routh Barrett, Fred Rodney Daggett Jr., Betsy Lee Daggett, and Ginny Calhoun Daggett; seven great-grandchildren: Garrett and Gentry Spinks; Caroline, Davis and Will Young; Clinton and Bennett Hanchey. Also surviving are cousins and many friends. He will be remembered as a great husband, dad and grandfather. Pallbearers will be John Davis Young Jr., Fred Rodney Daggett Jr., Roy Spinks, Clint Hanchey, Kenneth Dean Foster, and Scott Stanford. Corene Stribling Funeral services for Corene Stribling, 86, of Gilbert were held Friday at Old Macedonia Baptist Church in Gilbert with the Rev. King Dawson officiating. Burial followed at Ward Bend Cemetery under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Mrs. Stribling, a homemaker, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008 at Franklin Medical Center. Survivors include sons: Rovanseek Stribling and Evert Stribling, both of Gilbert; Brady Stribling, Monroe; Micheal Stribling, St. Louis, Mo.; daughters: Evalean Moore and Naroudia Rhodea, both of St. Louis, Mo.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Alfred 'Baby' Wilson Jr. Funeral services were held recently for Alfred "Baby" Wilson Jr. Mr. Wilson was born in Crowville on March 5, 1918 to the late Alfred and Daisy Hunt Wilson. He passed away on Sept. 27, 2008, at Deerfield Nursing Home in Delhi. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Mittie Gray Wilson. Survivors include five daughters: Mary K. Wilson, Daisy Jones, Roberta Wilson and Christine McDowell, all of Delhi; and Mary Mozeke of Castor, La.; 24 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Blanche Wright of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a host of other relatives and friends. |
