Farmers salute postponed
by Hope Young - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The 10th annual "Salute to Farmers" scheduled for tonight, Thursday, Sept. 4, has been postponed, according to Craig Gill, chairman of the event.

"Because of the flooding and high water, people have other concerns right now," Gill said. "We'll reschedule the salute to another time and let people know when and where it will be."

Louisiana Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Mike Strain, D.V.M., was scheduled to attend the event.

The "Salute to Farmers," sponsored by the Winnsboro-Franklin Chamber of Commerce, features food, music and the auctioning off of the first bale of cotton of the year. This year's bale came from the farm of Dale McLemore.
