Store burglary solved
by Hope Young - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Less than 10 hours after it happened, an early morning burglary was solved and the criminal behind bars.

According to Winnsboro Police Chief Lester Thomas, the J & J Trak store on Front Street was broken into at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

By 10 a.m. Xavier Criff, 19, of 1001 Newman St., Winnsboro was in custody and had confessed to the crime, according to Thomas.

The $300 in cash taken by Criff was recovered by Winnsboro police officers shortly after they arrested Criff at his home around 9 a.m.

Criff gained entry through the rear of the store and took only the money.

"It was good police work by the officers involved that led to the quick arrest and confession," Thomas said.
