Schools start in parish

Franklin Parish School System students will start back to school on Wednesday, Aug. 20, with a full day of classes. Teachers in the parish will return to the classroom on Monday, Aug. 18.

For questions about uniform or school policies, please contact the student's school or Jimmy Henderson at the Franklin Parish School Board office at 435-9046.

Family Community Christian School on Hwy. 15, north of Winnsboro, will begin classes on Aug. 25. According to an FCCS representative, applications for the Pre-K class are still being accepted.

Franklin Academy students begin classes today, Wednesday, Aug. 13, for a half day and return for a full day of classes on Thursday, Aug. 14. Information regarding uniform policies can be found in the FA student handbook.

On Thursday, Aug. 14, the FA football team will play in a jamboree game against the Mustangs of River Oaks in Monroe. There will also be a back-to-school dance held that weekend. The first home game for the Cougars will be Friday, Sept. 5.

Prayer walks are also scheduled for schools across the parish on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 5:30 p.m. at each campus with the exception of Franklin Parish High School. Winnsboro Elementary School's Back to School night is Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend.
