Riser to speak at chamber
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
District 32 State Sen. Neil Riser (R-Columbia) will be the special guest speaker at the Winnsboro-Franklin Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting on Thursday, Aug. 7.

The meeting begins at noon in the Princess Room. A buffet lunch will be served. Cost is $9 for members and $11 for non-members. To make reservations, call the chamber office at 435-4488.

Riser was elected last fall and will comment on the legislative sessions held this spring and summer.

Riser is chairman of the Senate Labor and Industrial Relations committee and serves on the Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development committee, Revenue & Fiscal Affairs Select Committees and Homeland Security committee.

In his freshman term, two of Riser's seven bills were signed by the governor and the other five were assigned to committees.

Riser was one of the few legislators to vote against a legislative salary pay increase which was eventually vetoed by the governor.
