Rod and Debi Elrod of Winnsboro announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Emily Dawn Elrod, to Benjamin Gallup Shields, son of Claire and Tammy Shields of Vidalia.

The wedding will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, in the garden of Peggy and Sam Nations, 155 Russell Lane, in Winnsboro, with Larry Russell, cousin of the bride, officiating.

The bride-elect, a graduate of Crowville High School and Louisiana Tech University, is currently employed as an instructor in English for the Upward Bound program.

She is the granddaughter of the late Norman and Marjorie Elrod of Winnsboro, and the late Raymond and Nell Cox of Bastrop.

The prospective groom, currently a student at Louisiana Tech University, is the grandson of Adeline Gallup and the late Alvin Gallup of Monterey, and the late Ralph and Harriett Shields of Vidalia.

Friends and family are invited to attend the ceremony.
