Roberts' celebrate golden anniversary
June 24, 2008, marked the 50th wedding anniversary of Sam and Carolyn
The folllowing Sunday, June 29, the couple gathered with family and friends to celebrate the beginning of their golden years.
The couple have three children, Marty and wife, Lori Roberts; Gary and wife, Cindy Roberts; and Tami Haring. They have eight grandchildren, Heath and wife Misty Roberts; Shannon and husband, Bubba Smith; Junior Roberts; Bridgette and husband, Mack Lawrence; Trey Haring; Tabbi and husband, Aaron Ellerbe; Trevor Roberts and Kali Haring. The couple have five great-grandchildren, Samantha, Natalie and Kyler Roberts, and Harley and Jayden Smith, and one on the way -- Spencer Raeann Ellerbe.
Guests in attendance enjoyed a reception for the couple as they shared stories from their pasts and plans for their future. Everyone agreed that the highlight of the day was Paw Sam's statement about his bride: "Well, there is a good part and a bad part to this anniversary. The good part is, I got to have Carolyn for 50 years; the bad part is knowing that I won't be able to have 50 more." |
