South Franklin wins Majors sub-district

In game one South Franklin beat Ferriday by six runs, 9-3. Ferriday held South Franklin scoreless until late in the fourth inning on a gutsy performance by pitcher Ashton Holland. With two out, shortstop Michael Moroni doubled and was driven in on an RBI single by cousin Brady Moroni. Brady was promptly driven in on another RBI single by Hunter Jones.

Ryan Lee scored in the fifth inning after hitting his second single of the day and was driven in on a hard shot by Chris Williams, who later stole home to finish South Franklin's scoring.

Brady Moroni, John Robbins and Robby Dearing combined for a two-hit win, each pitching effectively for two innings.

In game two, South Franklin defeated Catahoula, 11-2. Curt McDuffie hit a two-run homer and pitched effectively for two innings for the Catahoula all-Stars, but South Franklin stormed back for four runs in the third to take the lead.

Randy Fatzer was hit by a pitch and scored on Drake Stephen's single. Luke Moroni hit a shot to right field and scored on a three-run homer by Michael Moroni. Brady Moroni also singled in the third.

John Robbins began the hitting for South Franklin in the fourth inning with a leadoff double and scored on a single by Chris Williams. In the fifth inning Luke Moroni was hit by a pitch, Michael Moroni hit to right field and both Moronis scored on a two-RBI single by Hunter Jones. John Robbins added a double, scoring Jones. Ryan Lee then took a walk and scored on Chris Williams' three-run home run to end the scoring for South Franklin.

Brady Moroni, John Robbins and Robby Dearing all pitched for South Franklin.

In game three South Franklin and Winnsboro faced off, with South Franklin coming out on top, 8-4.
South Franklin got things started early in the first inning when Luke Moroni and Michael Moroni each reached base safely on errors. Brady Moroni's shot to the shortstop scored Luke. Michael stole home for the second run, and Brady scored on Robby Dearing's RBI producing a double.

Winnsboro score all four of their runs in the second inning when Garrett Dye and Trey Cureington each singled followed by a walk by Ben Sims to load the bases. After Kyle Sullivan took a walk to score Dye, Leighton McManus doubled to score Cureington, Sims and Sullivan.

South Franklin battled back in the fourth inning. Back to back singles by Michael and Brady Moroni allowed Michael to score the tying run. South Franklin took the lead for good in the fifth inning when Ryan Lee singled. Chris Williams walked and Luke Moroni had a double. South Franklin added another insurance run in the sixth with Robby Dearing's solo home run.

Brady Moroni, John Robbins and Robby Dearing each pitched two innings in the South Franklin win, while Garrett Dye and Trey Cureington each pitched for Winnsboro.

In the fourth and final game South Franklin remained undefeated, winning over Vidalia, 9-3.
Michael Moroni singled, Hunter Jones was hit by a pitch, John Robbins had an RBI single and Robby Dearing had a monster three-run homer to spark South Franklin to a first inning lead over Vidalia. In the second inning Drake Stephens singled, Jarrett Markey took a walk and Luke Moroni was hit by a pitch to set up a three RBI triple by Michael Moroni, who later scored on a wild pitch. John Robbins added a solo home run in the fifth for South Franklin.

Brady Moroni, John Robbins and Robby Dearing again pitched effectively for two innings each in the win over Vidalia.
