Franklin practice receives award
Franklin Healthcare Specialists, headed by Dr. Jimmy Coughran and Dr. Thomas Colvin, has received The Wellspring's 2008 Celebrate the Family Outstanding Family Corporate Award. The award is given annually to a business that creates and emphasizes a family atmosphere and values family.
Winnsboro native Lawana Brown nominated the practice. She is director of The Wellspring's housing and supportive services program, which has offices in Winnsboro, Bastrop, and Monroe.
Colvin has had a medical practice for 19 years and Coughran has been in practice for 15 years. They formed Franklin Healthcare Specialists in 2003, which has a staff of 17.
Some of the businesses' features that exemplify its family-first spirit include: A children's room with a television, snacks and games for children of staff who are sick and for after-school care.
The staff is taken on a yearly office trip including airfare, food and spending money. Destinations have included Las Vegas, New York and cruises. Lunch is often bought for everyone and the staff regularly dines out as a group, flexible scheduling and Christmas bonuses. Personnel polices provide for family-friendly benefits such as personal days off, sick time, and paid vacation.
The Celebrate the Family Awards are given each year during the Celebrate the Family Festival, a fundraiser for The Wellspring. This year's award was given May 31. |
