Three adults and three juveniles were arrested May 28 in connection with the recent burglaries of three Winnsboro businesses.

According to Winnsboro Police Chief Lester Thomas, Charles White, 126 Gerald St., Monroe and 907 Atkins St., Monroe, Paul Merrells, 1219 Gum St., Winnsboro and Linda Cain, 1311 Hunter St. Winnsboro, along with three juveniles, were arrested for burglarizing The Golden Hen on March 28, Treasures Flea Market on May 17 and The Crawdad Hole on May 26.

"They were in cahoots in all of them, and in two of the burglaries all six took part," Thomas said.

Thomas said a combination of police work and a tip led to the arrests.

"It was a team effort, everybody worked together," Thomas said. "I was really pleased to get these solved.

The adults are being held at the Franklin Parish Correctional Facility and the juveniles were released to their parents. The bonds for Cain and Merrells were set at $25,000 each and White's bond at $10,000.

Taken from The Golden Hen were cash, crab legs and shrimp. None of those items were recovered.

Some of the merchandise stolen from Treasurers Flea Market and The Crawdad Hole was recovered.

Taken from Treasures were cameras, computers, drinks, knives, hardware and other things common to flea markets. The Crawdad Hole lost money, crabs and shrimp.
