Patriots score three TDs in scrimmage

Franklin Parish's football team ended spring drills with a scrimmage at Wossman High School in Monroe as the Patriots competed against Wossman and Ferriday High.

"It really went well for us," said Franklin Parish football coach Barry Sebren. "I thought we played better than the other two teams by the end of the scrimmage."

Scoring touchdowns for Franklin Parish were Adrian Gardner and Tony Shaw, while Sidney McMillon threw a touchdown pass to Brian White.

Ladarius Trent had a 40-yard run for the Patriots.

"Overall I thought we competed well," Sebren said. "We were able to move the ball unlike last year's scrimmage when we couldn't get into the end zone. We made a lot of mistakes and I thought we came out a little intimidated at first, but as the scrimmage went on the kids gained a lot more confidence. We had our moments - good and bad."

The Patriot defense gave up one score on the night.

"We tackled well and had some good hits, but there were some plays we didn't look good on," Sebren said.

Sebren finished the spring with around 50 players.

"We'll look at the film and evaluate people at different positions," Sebren said. "I thought we had a very good spring and I'm looking forward to starting back up in the summer."
